CERTIFICATION
LAST CHANCE TO CERTIFY APPROACHES
The final referee certification seminar in Anchorage for the 2007-08 season will be Nov 9-10 at UAA. Pre-registration is required for returning Level 1,2 and 3 officials to attend the seminar. Call Connie Hardwick at 360-7750 for details.
Referees for the 2007-08 season must be certified by Nov. 30th. This requires attending a seminar and completing the open and/or closed book exams. Details for registering online and the online open book exam can be found at the USA Hockey Web site.
GAME GUIDELINES
COMP. LEAGUES SET GAME LENGTH TIMES
Referees are reminded that the competitive team leagues have established the following guidelines for league and exhibition game lengths:
• 1 hour game = 3 minute warm-up and three 10 minute periods
• 1.25 hour game = 3 minute warm-up and three 12 minute periods
• 1.5 hour game = 3 minute warm-up and three 15 minute periods
If there appears to be more time available than will be required to complete the recommended times above, the coaches may agree to lengthen the first two periods in order to maximize use of the allowed ice time. However, no time shall be added to the third period of play. If the scheduled ice time will expire before the completion of the third period, the timekeeper may, at the direction of the referee, run the clock until the time expires. There will not be no time-outs and no overtime allowed for League games.
All youth house (recreation) games and all girls games will follow the usual standard of:
• 1 hour ice time = 5 minute warm up, first two periods 10 minutes with the third adjusted to maximize ice time
• 1.25 hour ice time = 5 minute warm up, first two periods 12 minutes with the third adjusted to maximize ice time
• 1.5 hour ice time = 5 minute warm up, first two periods 15 minutes with the third adjusted to maximize ice time
House times are not set in stone and will ultimately be the decision of the home team coach or their representative.

Payment must be received prior to the order deadline of Oct. 31. See the order form here in PDF format for more details and to place an order. It will take 6-8 weeks for our order to be processed.
ADULT LEAGUES
ADULT ROSTERS CLOSE; NUMBERED JERSEYS REQUIRED
All team rosters for the adult leagues at Subway Center and AAHL closed effective Oct. 1. Players who are not on the printed rosters are not allowed to play until their status is resolved with their respective league coordinators. Also, all adult players, with exception of goalies, must have a sewn or imprinted (not temporarily taped) number on the back of their jersey. Players are exempted from this rule only if one team must switch from its regular team jersey color to avoid having both teams on the ice with similar colors.
Adult scheduler Dave Hurts says, "If you do not enforce these rules you will undermine everything we have worked on for the last two years. If I find out that you are deliberately ignoring these rules, you may not be working very much in the future. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. Dave can be contacted at dakarak@gci.net.
POLICIES
ADVICE FOR SCHEDULING GAMES
Officials are asked to pay attention to game times and arena locations when confirming game requests in the online RefRanger schedule. Officials should not confirm multiple games for the same times and should allow at least an hour between games that are located at different facilities. Officials should select the "No" button on the left side of the RefRanger confirmation window when they see that scheduling conflicts will occur.
MISCELLANY
GAME INVOICE SHEETS ARE NOT ORIGAMI
Treasurer Joe Barth reports that he occasionally receives game invoice sheets folded in a mess requiring an annoying time to unfold. We'd rather have Joe focus on completing pay checks in a timely manner instead of being mired in a mess of origami creations.
